Renault Kwid has been facing a tough challenge from its competitors, in recent times. The sales of the entry-level vehicle from Renault hatchback has seen a decline in recent months. Renault is now offering segment first 1-lakh km warranty on the Kwid. The new customers get 4 years or 1-lakh km warranty, which is not available with any of the other vehicles in the segment.
The warranty now includes the standard 2 years / 50,000 km warranty plus the extended 2 years / 50,000 km warranty as standard. Renault will not charge anything extra for the extended warranty under the new offer. Renault is also offering free roadside assistance to new customers to boost sales. Renault India has also announced the Renault SECURE program for the whole range including Captur, Kwid, Duster and Lodgy in India. The new program covers the existing owners with a warranty coverage of 5 years or 1-lakh km. This also includes the free roadside assistance.
Renault Kwid’s direct competition like the Datsun RediGo and the Maruti Suzuki Alto offer a lower standard warranty. Alto offers a standard 2 year/40,000 km warranty while the RediGo comes with a 2-year/unlimited km warranty. The warranty on the Alto can be extended to 3 years / 1 lakh km while the Datsun RediGo gets an option to extend the warranty by 2 or 3 years with roadside assistance.
Renault earlier launched the superhero edition of the Kwid in India to attract buyers. The car gets an Iron Man and a Captain America edition in the Indian market that gets body decals and looks very chic.
The Kwid comes with two engine options and six variants in India. There is a 0.8-litre engine that generates a maximum power of 53 Bhp and 72 Nm. It only gets a 5-speed manual transmission. There is a higher powered 1.0-litre engine too that generates a maximum power of 67 Bhp and 91 Nm. The 1.0-litre engine option also gets an AMT automatic transmission.
