Mahindra Scorpio Facelift Spotted for the first time

Car News

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), the home-grown automaker, has reportedly started work on the Scorpio facelift in the country. The facelifted test mule was spotted in Karnataka with camouflage by an AutoCar India reader. The company had introduced the second-generation Scorpio in 2014 in the Indian market and it would be first update for the SUV since then. The spotted test mule was wearing camouflage at the front fascia and rear profile, which clearly indicates that it would get some fresh styling updates at both these places.

Mahindra Scorpio has been one of the iconic SUVs in the country with high popularity among the masses as well as classes. The facelifted version wouldn’t be an all-new one but would have mild styling updates. The interior cabin is expected to witness a plethora of technological advancements as the rival SUVs offer more upmarket and contemporary features in terms of infotainment system, comfort and convenience. It is being learnt that the Mahindra Scorpio facelift might get a reverse parking camera for the first time. It could also get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with the touchscreen infotainment system. The seats are also believed to be more opulent, while work is also said to be done on the improvement of platsic quality.

Mechanically, the Scoprio would be powered by the same 2.2L 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine, albeit with increased power output. The engine is expected to deliver maximum power of 140bhp, as compared to the current engine’s 120bhp – a bump in power by 20bhp. The torque performance is likely to be increased too, following the power. It would be offered with the same 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions. The top-end variants would get an all-wheel-drive system. The company would target the Hyundai Creta with the facelifted SUV. Also, Mahindra might equip the Scorpio facelift with dual front airbags, ABS and EBD as standard safety fitments across the entire variant range.
