Android creator Andy Rubin’s Essential Phone has received an approval to run on Verizon. This means that the phone is now supported by four major carriers in United States, namely Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and now, Verizon.
However, reports also suggest that even prior to this, Verizon users could use the Essential Phone by just inserting their SIM card in the phone. The smartphone just technically didn’t work with Verizon. But now that the Essential Phone has got an official approval, users can expect to get better service if they use their smartphones with Verizon.
Earlier this week, it was also reported that Essential is working on a ‘high-end’ audio accessory for its phone. The accessory is said to include a headphone jack for the smartphone and users will be able to attach it with a magnetic accessory connector.cAndy Rubin and others from Essential have confirmed on Reddit AMA that the accessory is in development.
In the Reddit thread, Essential had written, “We are under development on a number of Click Connector accessories. The first available should be the charging dock. We are also actively developing a high-end audio accessory to support a 3.5mm jack. We are continuing to look at supporting ideas, like cameras.”
